Islamic Republic of Iran’s Book Week Festival
Islamic Republic of Iran’s Book Week is a major annual cultural festival of staged nationwide concurrent with the calendar day of ‘book and book reading’ (Nov 15). Major activities in the week include inauguration of special-subject book fairs in schools, factories, universities, and rehabilitation facilities nationwide, staging of book reading contests, appreciation of top authors and journalists, inauguration of new libraries and presentation of awards to top authors and titles.
Annual Book Award ceremonies are also staged every year during the week with the sitting IRI president leading the momentous event. The book award is organized and directed by the cultural department of the IRI Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in cooperation with other sate and national bodies.
23 editions of Book Week have already been staged with the latest one held in November 2015 with various programs.
